If you live in Tennessee or the surrounding states you are undoubtedly familiar with various storm activity.  The hot and cold air seemingly converge right where we live, creating all kinds of weather disruptions; hail, wind, tornadoes and thunderstorms.  Consequently, many homeowners have experienced at some point damage to their homes.  Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind :

1.    Most Insurance companies will allow a claim from a storm that dates back 1 year.

2.    It is important to know – according to Tennessee Insurance Code – that storm damage claims (Acts of God) cannot negatively impact your premiums or the renewability of your policy.

3.    Insurance policyholders have a responsibility to mitigate damage and maintain their property.   Insurance companies “do not pay for losses which results from the neglect of the insured to use all  reasonable means to save and preserve covered property at and after the time of a loss.”

4.   Frequently homeowners will not know the difference between “wear and tear” and  “storm damage”.  Our trained professional do!  That is why we urge you to have us out to your home for a no-obligation free inspection.
